Native American Rings

The Native American ring maybe small but nothing compares to the ring when it comes to tradition, story and artistry to other Native American jewelries. Through the ages, each Native American tribe has created remarkable designs in their rings. They are often used to identify the status of the individual and the tribe where he or she belongs. The rings made a significant change during the 16th century when the Europeans arrived. With the help of the Navajo, new designs, symbols and types of rings were introduced. Until today, the original designs of the Native American rings are still artistic and could be worn in any occasion.

There are two popular forms of rings. The first is the band form and it could be subdivided into two additional forms based on their material. The band ring of Native Americans could come in silver with different symbols or they could come in turquoise or other gems. The combination of silver and turquoise is also common. Another form of Native American ring is the set stone ring. They could come with silver or gold band but the importance is placed on the stone. They are usually made with semi-precious stones and they have a special housing called “bevel”.
