Native American Pendants

Pendants are often used with a small chain to form a necklace. Pendants are also common in Native American jewelries as they are usually added with simple chains to highlight the pendant. These pendants often come with symbols which could tell a story or symbolize the affiliation or belief of the wearer.

The most popular type of pendant is the squash pendant. This type of pendant often takes on different shapes but they are often identified as a metal with intricate design of semi-precious stones in the inside.

Another popular type of pendant is the fetish pendant. This is very common in Native American culture since they use the pendants for protection from harm and ward of evil spirits. They are often made of animal parts such as teeth of a fierce animal.  Some also create small engrave on wood so they could invoke its protection when they face harm.

There are also pendants that are purely made of metal. They are usually made of silver and often associated with silver necklace. These are regarded as modern Native American pendants since metals were later introduced to the Native American culture when the Europeans arrived. But they still bore symbols with deep significance which made them different compared to regular pendants.
